Phil Loaring
Over 25 years in construction, from the ground up
Phil started his career as a bricklayer, training on-site and through college for the first six years. His hands-on knowledge gave him a strong foundation in construction. He then moved into a Site Supervisor role, where he spent another six years leading teams, managing health and safety, and delivering complex projects.
In 2011, Phil launched his own construction company. Since then, he has built a strong reputation across the South West for reliable delivery, clear project management and exceptionally high standards. His portfolio includes new builds, conversions, refurbishments and full development schemes. As the business has grown, so has his team – trusted tradespeople and professionals who share his focus on quality and results.
Phil brings a deep understanding of building logistics, budget control and project delivery to every Cobb View Homes project.
Jim Larcombe
Architectural design shaped by place and purpose
Jim has worked in architectural design since the early 2000s. After gaining experience with established firms, including Robbie Roskell Architectural and Building Consultants and John Stark and Crickmay Partnership, he set up his own practice in 2011.
Over the years, Jim has developed a distinctive design style, modernising older homes and creating new ones that reflect both site conditions and long-term use. His work often involves sensitive sites – from flood risk zones to tight-access urban plots and protected conservation areas – and he’s known for solving complex planning and design challenges.
Having grown up in a family of builders, Jim is the fifth generation of the Larcombe family working in the Lyme Regis area. His understanding of both the design and practical sides of building helps him deliver homes that look good, work well and respond to their surroundings.
A proven working partnership
Built on trust, skill and shared ambition
Jim and Phil first worked together in 2017 on a project in Burton Bradstock. Jim had secured planning permission and needed a reliable contractor. That initial collaboration marked the start of a strong working relationship – one that has grown into Cobb View Homes.
Their combined skillset brings together the best of both disciplines. Phil’s background in managing large build teams and delivering projects aligns well with Jim’s experience in design, planning and site optimisation. They both have experience running complex sites and share a practical, no-nonsense approach to getting things done the right way.
Their partnership creates a consistent experience for clients – from the early design stages through to completed handover – with both directors involved extensively throughout.
