Challenging access SIPs build on the UNESCO World Heritage coastline
Located within the heart of Lyme Regis, down a single track lane, this site threw up some challenges with tight access, limited space for material storage and parking with a private car park adjacent. The boundary wall was within the curtilage of the listed building therefore needing to be retained and undamaged as well whilst building a retaining structure adjacent.
We successfully negotiated planning at the first time of asking, located within a number of designated areas. We did the full design, and necessary planning statements in house and obtained planning for a two storey dwelling replacing a single storey timber cabin.
Building the dwelling proved a challenge but the team negotiated each hurdle as it was thrown at them. Using a SIPs construction manufactured off site, we had to build the long boundary wall in one section due to distance to boundary. Three walls of the property area located either on or within 1m of the boundary of the property meaning lots of liaising with management companies for scaffolding. But the results speak for themselves, with this high specification house, making the most of the stunning views.
